iChat for your EYE Phone
How do you feel about video conversing on your cell phone? A little too timid to stick your big toe in on your laptop, well Apple thinks you are ready and they mean now buddy! I’m not sure I’m ready for this new “revolution” not because I haven’t done it before I have, to put it bluntly I just don’t care. Video chat has been around for years this is really nothing new and many new phones offer similar features since last year. The one thing that has always been holding this back is the people, well no scratch the mobile companies have been stingy with the data as well but more so public acceptance for this sort of thing has been low.
From novelty to sexting or whatever to who cares. Just recently the fad of chat roulette has been gaining momentum on the internets on a desktop sure, but on a phone that is something entirely different.
Like all Apple products before it, the iPhone 4 offers features that won’t let you can’t be upgraded, well with the exception of the new gyro thingy and the camera pretty much everything should be available to owners of previous models except you suckers beta testers lucky people who waited in line for 3 days and bought the first models of Steve Jobs infused goodness. I’m about to blow your mind here but I’m not really a apple hipster type of guy I’m a somewhat timid blackberry owner and there is a strong possibility I might switch over to the new iphone handset I just haven’t decided yet. Mr. Jobs keeps telling me the revolution starts when he says so but I’m not so much interested in having a magic device in my hand I just want something that doesn’t drop calls and looks kinda cool.
Every time a new phone is introduced to the market I’m always reminded how little I care about any of the features that are the super selling points. It’s not because I’m a luddite I’m pretty tech savvy, I would even go so far as calling myself a actual nerd. No the features I care the most about most phones spend the least amount of time getting it right. Design design design is key not just the outside but the actual OS, I love my blackberry for the email integration and even its blackberry messenger, but I and when I say hate I mean it,
hate the OS on my phone and thus it leaves me completely unsatisfied. Windows Phone 7 has piqued my interested a little but I’m not sure I want to complete my journey to the darkside I’m already a proud xbox 360 owner (gamertag: Mic Mayhem come race me on Forza 3) and I outfitted all my computers with windows 7 because it is worth every penny Steve Ballmer needs a pat on his back for that at the very least, but the windows phone experience has been shaky at best shaaaky. So here I am making passes at the popular girl of the tech world. I don’t know we shall see what happens in the next few months Android seems to be picking up steam and their new offerings seem to only get better so its on to a 3 way tie or maybe a dance off or something. Whatever phone I choose to buy next rest assured I will rant about it here for your enjoyment.
